Daniel Fast Tips & Free Rotation Menu

January is a popular time for Churches to corporately fast. A popular fast is the 21-day Daniel Fast, based on the diet Daniel chose in Daniel Chapter 10. This is the first time many people ever attempt to fast or change their eating habits. It's not easy. In order to provide support, I've compiled a rotation menu very similar to my popular Suddenly Slim rotation menu. If you or someone you know are participating in the Daniel Fast, please download it and share.

Here are a few tips that might help first-time fasters:

  1. Plan & Prepare:  this is the most important step to keep you focused on God and not food for the fasting period.  Plan breaksfasts, lunches and dinners.  Use dinner leftovers for lunch and plan breakfast the night before.
  2. Drink lots of water, not just at meals but all day long.  This will help hydrate your body and keep you feeling physically full.
  3. Include snacks.  Popcorn, kale chips, zucchini chips, roasted veggies, brown rice cakes, almond butter bites and of course fruits... get recipes from my Pinterest Board.
  4. Don't be afraid to try new things.  Once you've ditched your regular diet, your body will crave good nutrition.  Your tastes will change.  Try new things!
  5. Get outdoors.  Fresh air is good for the body and Spirit.  Plan on taking a short walk everyday to help renew yourself.

Most importantly - don't lose sight of why you're doing the fast.  Listen to what God has to say to you in this time you've set aside.

If you have any tips you'd like to share, please feel free to do so in the comments below.

Happy Fasting!  God bless!
